Let the game(s) begin! Trouble in Jimbotron City?

With the opening ceremonies over and done, the first Official Game of the Russell Cup Invitational took place yesterday between team GAMBLotron (Gamblor and Jimbotron) and still unnamed and most likely inferior team of Braynor and Brewdwarf.

The players, though titans in their own right, seemed to have difficulty adapting to the Russell Cup Invitational Season 2's New and Innovative format.  After a series of misunderstandings, mix-ups and malentendus, we are left with a strange, strange game and Many Questions.  Some attribute this to the brilliant and Higher Level design of the tournament, which Not All players are able to adapt to.  Tournament Official(s) seem to have been unprepared for the level of simplicity the players exhibited, but have assured fans that indeed they did not Expect Better but have taken both pre and postcautions against such confusion for future games.

After a somewhat bizarre start in which Brewdwarf required the match be remade (possibly due to personal issues) and yet another remake when Gamblor mysteriously vanished from the game lobby during the final seconds of the countdown (allegedly due to a Countdown BM rush though this cannot be confirmed), the match and series took place on The Ruins of Tarsonis which, according to Reliable Sources is apparently a 2v2 map.

There seemed to be no end to the confusion as Braynor's protoss forces began setting up in the wrong base, only to have Team GAMBLOtron expertly and skillfully informed him of his mistake.

Despite popular belief, it is impossible to spawn across the map from your teammate.

Fans were treated to some intense Back and Forth between Team GAMBLotron's Terran Task Force and the unnamed mess of units fielded by Braynor and Brewdwarf.  Sieged tanks proved useless under siege, marines swam in a sea of blood, and Immortals proved not so immortal as both teams fought for control of this wasteland.

The deciding factor for the match came when Braynor's Colloxsiii Brought the Pain.  Though Gamblor (a known MechWarrior) was able to fend off the attacks for some time, Braynor's persistence paid off, forcing the dynamic GAMBLotron out of their comfort zone and into a disadvantageous position.

Unbeknownst to the unnamed and therefore unprofessional team of Braynor and Brewdwarf, all was going According to Plan for Team GAMBLotron.  By being in a disadvantageous position they were reducing their odds of victory, therefore making them the underdogs and securing the victory.  Yes folks, this is the sort of advanced and in-depth play seen only in the Russell Cup Invitational that keeps the fans coming back time and time again.

Likely discouraged by GAMBLotron's impressive display of skill and Smack Talk, Brewdwarf leaves the game prematurely, forfeiting his win.

Abandoned by the treacherous and/or cowardly Brewdwarf, Braynor bravely continues to battle on.

And that's when it happened.

Nuclear Launch Detected.

Explosion in the heart of Jimbotron city!  The gamechanger of gamechangers.  None could have foreseen such a terrifying act.  A picture from the surveillance cameras taken moments before the incident.

With Brewdwarf out of the game and Braynor's forces lacking the capability for nuclear strikes, we are left to speculate just how the explosion took place.  An official investigation is taking place, but the widespread destruction caused by the explosion has erased much of the evidence.  Fans and officials alike are left to speculate: Just who is this mysterious figure seen moments before the explosion?

Scorched Ground and Radiation were no impediment to the high-flying warp prisms and elevation-enhanced coloxsiin, leaving Braynor's forces free to add insult to injury while Team GAMBLotron struggled to tend to its wounded and clean up the wreckage.  Left with no other choice, they began procedures to evacuate.

Unable and possibly unwilling to reach the high-flying cruise ships, Braynor leaves the game after Wrecking Shop, leaving many unsure of the official outcome of the series.

Just how will Russell Cup officials handle this matter?  A committee convened on the matter and ruled that the official outcome of the match is as follows: "prematurely leaving the match is deemed equivalent to surrender and results in forfeiture of victory on the player's part.  In addition, in consideration for the victims of Jimbotron City as a result of The Unfortunate Incident, twelve (12) points will be awarded to his score for the victory.  Our hearts and thoughts go out to all the victims and their families."

However, this ruling was later overturned due to the efforts of Phoenix Wright, Ace Attorney and the council has since revised its decision and rules that no player has won the match, especially Brewdwarf who clearly lost.  One (1) point will be awarded to Braynor, as well as each member of team GAMBLotron for having successfully drawn the match, thus qualifying as non-winners.  Brewdwarf will receive one(1) point for losing.

"I think it's a fair ruling.  Good thing Phoenix Wright was there and that Russell Cup Invitational Official(s) are so understanding and cool."
